Data Engineer
Join Brocc as Data Engineer: own and evolve our data platform, build pipelines, ensure data quality, and enable data-driven decisions across Finance, Risk, and Ops.
Brocc is a specialised financial institution embarking on a bold and transformative growth journey, fuelled by strong institutional backing and a clear strategic vision. Positioned at the forefront of the European credit market, Brocc combines deep heritage in consumer finance with cutting-edge technology and expertise in NPL acquisition and restructuring, building a best-in-class debt finance platform that supports clients across the full credit lifecycle.
With substantial capital resources, an ambitious growth agenda, and a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture, Brocc is uniquely placed to shape the future of the credit ecosystem. As we scale across new markets and asset classes, building robust, secure, and high-performing technology is central to how we operate, and to how we earn the trust of our customers, partners, and regulators.
Now, we are looking for a Data Engineer to join our growing team and take ownership of the data infrastructure that powers how customers across the Nordic region save, borrow, and manage their finances.
What you’ll do
You will play a key role in building and developing the data infrastructure that enables the entire organisation to work data-driven. You will report directly to the CTO and work as part of a close-knit data team. Acting as a bridge between data and the wider business, you are responsible for creating robust, scalable, and efficient data flows that ensure the right data is available for analysis, reporting, and decision-making, and you help shape a modern data platform that is the foundation for both operational and strategic initiatives. Our platform has been live for a couple of years and keeps growing as we add new data sources and model new data; our stack consists of Python, Snowflake, Meltano, Airflow, Fivetran, dbt, AWS, and Kubernetes, and the focus is on the complexity and correctness of the data rather than sheer volume or real-time processing.
Your daily tasks will include:
Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes in Snowflake.
Use dbt or Meltano to develop and document clear and efficient data transformations.
Ensure high data quality, traceability, and reliability through validation, monitoring, and documentation.
Build a scalable and robust data platform that supports both current and future needs.
Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Operations, and Product to turn data needs into technical solutions that move the business forward.
Identify and implement improvements that increase automation, efficiency, and performance across our data processes.
Who you are
You are curious, committed, and self-driven, passionate about technology and data, and motivated to keep developing together with your team. You are “T-shaped” — genuinely interested in many things and driven by understanding why you do what you do, not only your own area. You combine solid data engineering craft with an analytics mindset, work in a structured and meticulous way, see how the details form a whole, and you are a communicative team player who is happy to share your knowledge to lift the whole team.
More specifically, you bring:
An academic background in systems science, data/IT, or a similar field (a relevant vocational/YH education can qualify with the right experience).
Several years (5+) of experience in data technology, such as data engineering and BI development — not just dashboards.
Very good knowledge of Python and SQL and experience building and optimising data pipelines, with dimensional and relational data modelling.
Hands-on experience with at least one modern, cloud-based data platform: Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Databricks, or BigQuery.
Experience with dbt or Meltano for transformations, plus orchestration and ingestion tools such as Airflow.
The ability to translate business needs into sustainable technical solutions and to explain complex data concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
An understanding of compliance and regulatory reporting in financial services — or experience from fintech, banking, or another regulated industry — is a strong plus.
Why Brocc?
This role combines hands-on data engineering with real influence over how Brocc’s data platform and ways of working take shape — with significant ownership, a broad mandate, and the chance to build for the long term. You will work with a modern technology stack in an innovative, technical environment, alongside committed and highly competent colleagues and a culture full of high energy. We are bold in how we challenge what financial services can be, and committed to empowering our customers to make smart financial choices — backed by a strong capital base and a clear vision.
